This message is being sent to remind you of a few things. Firstly, that our banquet will be tomorrow, April 27th from 6:00-10:00pm at the Red Dog Saloon. Secondly, we are still soliciting nominations for the following board seats:

Lastly, if you are holding onto any jerseys from last season and are planning on attending the banquet, please bring your jersey with you as there will be a space to drop it off.

Our tournament is right around the corner and we’ve had a couple people drop out. If anyone wants to play five games between Friday, May 3 and Sunday, May 5 in a mixed-skills tournament, go ahead and sign up. it’s $100. Draft will be held at Louie’s at 7:30pm on Thursday, May 2. We’re looking for five skaters and one goalie (C-tier-ish level goalie).

We have concluded making reservations for the yearly end-of-season banquet and it will be held Saturday April 27 from 6-10pm at the Red Dog Saloon! There will be food available as well as prizes for first place teams, I believe.

Hello JAHA enthusiasts,

Registration for the Douglas Island Cup is now open! This is a JAHA sponsored draft tournament being held Friday, May 3 – Sunday, May 5. For those not familiar with draft tournaments, players will register as individuals and be placed in various skill groups. Then, team captains will be selected, goalies assigned, and players drafted in a draft event to be held before the tournament begins. Tournament Rules and other useful Information

Cost: $100/skaters. $50/goalies.

Dates: This tournament will be held the last operating weekend of the rink, Friday, May 3rd-Sunday, May 5th.

Times: Friday, May 3rd games start at 6:30pm and the last game is 10:15pm.

Saturday, May 4th games start at 8am and the last game is at 4:45pm.

Sunday, May 5th games start at 10:30am and the last game is at 1:30pm.

Format: This will be a draft tournament comprised of 4-6 teams. Players will be grouped into skill bins and then drafted by the team sponsors. This draft will be held May 2nd (at a location TBD), for those who wish to attend. Teams will play round-robin style games against other teams beginning Friday night and running through the end of Saturday. Final games (1v2, 3v4, 5v6) will be played on Sunday.

Games and Team Size: Each team will play 4 round robin games and 1 playoff game. Games will be randomly generated in the event that we have fewer or more than 5 teams. Teams will consist of 13 skaters and 1 goalie.

Goalie Registration: We are allowing space for more than 6 goalies to register. We will select the 6 goalies that are the closest in relative skill level in order ensure teams are as balanced as possible. Extra skater spots will be reserved for any goalie not selected so they have the option to skate. Simply put, if your preference is to play goalie, sign up for that, but not being selected still means you will be given the option to skate.

Sponsorship: We are looking for people who own whole sets of jerseys to sponsor a team for the tournament. If you’re interested in sponsoring a team, please email juneauadulthockey@gmail.com.

Capacity: We will close registration once we have enough registrants for six teams. Don’t get left out!
