JHO is looking for a new Business Manager

Posted by JAHA Webmaster at Oct 11, 2022 12:46PM PDT ( 0 Comments )

Hello JAHA,

Please see the following message from JHO regarding their business manager position.

Thanks,

-Andrew

Juneau Hockey Officials (JHO) is looking for a new Business Manager. The Business Manager is a paid position responsible for scheduling referees and scorekeepers, billing, payroll, and taxes. The position pays $575/month during the hockey season (September – April). Pay is set for the 2022-2023 season but may be renegotiated next season.

Anyone interested in the position is encourage to contact JHO at jhoinc17@gmail.com.

Hello All,

We have received a number of queries from those of you who are interested in becoming officials this fall and have an update from JHO to share.

At the moment, online officiating seminars are live for all levels to meet certifying requirements (https://www.usahockey.com/registrationrules). If you or anyone you know is interested in officiating then follow the link above to read the requirements and begin the process. JHO is available to help with any questions you have along the way and they can be reached at jhoinc17@gmail.com with any questions. For a more immediate response you can reach their business manager, Brian Thomason, at 907-209-7160.

At the moment, we have not received a definitive update on whether or not an in person seminar will be able to be held in Juneau this season. When we receive a final update we will pass it along. At this time we encourage any new or returning officials to utilize the online seminars for your annual certification.

JHO is also looking for more scorekeepers, for those of you who spend an inordinate amount of time at the rink watching games, this is a very easy way to get paid to do so.

Again, if you have any interest, or questions, reach out to JHO at jhoinc17@gmail.com with questions.

Thanks,

-Andrew

A Tier Sub Participants

Posted by Tier B at Sep 6, 2022 2:56PM PDT

A Tier is looking for B Tier players who are interested in subbing from time to time. If you would be interested in occasionally subbing into A Tier games when they are short on players, please email the A representative your name and cell phone number. You can reach Zane at zmchapman15@gmail.com.

B Tier Jaha members,

We wanted to send out a friendly reminder to be courteous of your teammates and opponents skill levels and overall hockey experience. B tier is a competitive tier and has come to include a very wide range of skill levels, especially in light of the last few years of combined tiers due to Covid. B Tier is generally set up for players who didn’t grow up playing the sport, or players who have taken a step down from a more competitive A tier. We as a hockey community are trying to encourage new players to move up through the ranks, and eventually fill in higher tiers of skill, but it takes time for those players to develop new skills when they make the jump up in difficulty. For those of you who are more skilled than a typical B level player, please try to play to the benefit of the tiers natural skill level. We may ask players who dominate or control the outcome of their game to step up a tier to keep the game fun for those making fresh steps into B tier. We also have a 40+ (35+) tier for those who want to play in a non-competitive tier.

Games start next week on Tuesday, September 6th! You should have an email to accept a team invitation, which is an easy way to get your full season schedule. If you are missing the email, login to teampages, click on the envelope icon on the top right of the screen, click on notifications, and accept the invite. Playoffs are scheduled November 8th through November 20th.

There are still roster spots available in B tier, so if you know people on the fence, tell them to sign up! There are also limited roster spots available in all tiers at this time if you want to encourage people of various skill levels to play. 40+ is also open to 35+ this season in the interest of getting 3 solid teams put together.

Good luck this season, see you on the ice next week!

- Jeremy
