News and Announcements
Please remember to turn in your JAHA jersey(s) to your team rep, tier rep, or any member of the JAHA board! Today would be a great day to bring your JAHA jersey to the rink if you still have one or more in your possession – championship games start at 4pm and run till 9pm.
Turning in your JAHA jerseys now helps give us time to sort, launder, and re-package for the Jamboree and Winter seasons.
This only applies to the JAHA jerseys noted below. All others are sponsored jerseys and appropriate representatives will arrange for pickup of those:
Tier C – Comets
Tier C – Winnipeg Rifles
Tier D – Thane
Women – Eagle Beach
Women – Shamrocks
Women – Treadwell
Tier 40 – 10th Mountain Division
Tier 40 – Bleau Chunks
Tier 40 – Dupont
Thank you for your help!
This month’s meeting is by online/teleconference. You can attend as a member of JAHA or the public via computer, smart device, or phone. (Note that the dial-in number is not toll free, so unless your plan includes long distance, you may incur normal long distance calling charges).

Good evening JAHA players!
The bright spot of every Juneau November has arrived – yes, the Fall season adult recreational hockey playoffs and championships have arrived.
The rankings are set and the first games have been scheduled. It’s on.
As always, there is business to tend to:
- PLAYOFF RULES: Because we can’t have ties in playoffs, playoff games that don’t have a winner at the end of regulation enter into a 5-minute run time sudden death overtime period. The first team that scores during this period is the winner. If there is still no winner after this period, a best-of-3 shootout takes place. If there is still no winner, the shootout continues until all players on a team have taken a shot. At this point – and this is new, so pay attention! – if the game is still tied, once a team has gone through all of its shooters, any rostered skater on the team may attempt shots without restriction, e.g. the same player may make consecutive shot attempts, until a winner is decided. The game can’t end until the teams have attempted the same number of shots. All tournament rules can be found in Section E of the JAHA Rules.
- JAHA JERSEYS: As teams are eliminated, the team and tier rep will help to make sure that JAHA-owned jerseys are collected. Sponsored jerseys are the responsibility of the respective sponsor. Please make every effort to get your JAHA jerseys turned in if you know you won’t be around for your team’s final game!
- SCHEDULE: We’ll make every effort to schedule the next round of games on the website as results are known, but always check the playoff schedule to make sure you don’t miss a game!
- HOLIDAY AND WINTER REGISTRATION: Thinking about the future? Holiday Jamboree will run 12/3 – 12/16 this year and is a mixed-skill, fun-first way to burn off those holiday calories. The Winter Season starts on 1/7/2018 and runs through 4/8/2018. Registration for Holiday Jamboree ends on 11/30/2017 and registration for Winter Season ends on 12/17/2017, so go sign up NOW!
That’s it! Go watch “Miracle” and some YouTube highlights of your favorite team and get into playoff mode.
Good luck and see you on the ice!

Attached is the JAHA Playoff Schedule for Fall 2017. Get it on your calendar, start planning your playoff strategy – whether it’s a sweep or taking a risk in the loser’s bracket to maximize your ice time – and get your playoff traditions going.
The document JAHA_F2017_Schedule_PO.pdf was attached to this post.
Have you ever been skating around during a game and thought to yourself, “Life would be so much better if I had at least 30 more pounds of gear on”?
Have you ever wished you were the one your teammate patted on the back and said “I’m sorry” to after deflecting in the game-losing goal?
Have you ever caught and/or batted away an object thrown at you?
If you answered yes to any of these questions… you might be a goalie! (And even if you didn’t answer yes, as a wise man named Darryl Tseu once said, “Every skater should try being a goalie at least once.”)
With JAHA re-introducing Tier D this year and our investment in loaner goalie gear, we are setup to let you – the goalie dreamers of the world – give it a whirl! Take a look at the Tier D schedule and get in touch with us using the contact us link in the main site’s menu bar and let us know which game or games you would like to goalie in and we’ll get you setup from there.
We can help you get the gear on and give you some basic pointers, then you’ll get some ice time as a goalie to try out the position, all for no cost. If you like it, you could pick up more games with the same team or sign up as a goalie for the Winter season. It’s all up to you, no pressure – just be sure to let us know if you’re interested.
See you on the ice!
