News and Announcements

Hi All,

JHO asked me to send out this survey to the greater JAHA player-base. They are looking for feedback from the players as well as information on recruiting JAHA players to serve as future referees.

Hello JAHA,

The regular season has concluded and playoff games have been posted! For AB and C40 tiers, only the games for Sunday have been added to the calendar and we will do our best to update the schedule throughout the coming weeks as games are played, but players should follow the schedule (attached) to determine when their next games will be. For D and Women’s tier, all of your games have been added to the calendar. If you have any questions about the formats or game schedules, please reach out to us at juneauadulthockey@gmail.com.

Onto other important business:

1) There will be a winter jamboree tournament. Registration for it will be opening within the week and will run through Friday, November 26. The dates of this tournament will be (roughly) December 5-19, depending on the number of players that we have register. Please remember that this is a mixed skill tournament that puts an emphasis on fun hockey and playing with friends that you wouldn’t normally get a chance to play with. Please note that there will not be the flexible registration deadline that fall season had and if you want to secure your spot, please complete your registration by Friday November 26.

2) Registration for Winter season will be opening within the week. The winter season will likely look similar to the fall season. We will do our best to have A/B/C/40/Women’s/D tiers but they will have to be combined again depending on the number of players that register for each tier.

3) Please be respectful to the referees. We’ve gotten a few comments from JHO officials, specifically those that have refereed the AB games that some of our JAHA players have been disrespectful or rude towards officials. As it is, JHO is struggling to get officials for our games and if it continues we may end up in a situation where we do not have referees available for our games. We understand games get competitive but please keep in mind they are only human and doing the best they can with a very short list of active referees. If you are interested in becoming a referee to help alleviate this shortage, we encourage you to reach out to JHO at jhoinc17@gmail.com.

Attached you’ll find both the playoff schedule for all tiers, as well as the playoff brackets for AB and C40 tiers. Standings for the tiers are not finalized quite yet but you should have a decent idea where your team will end up so you can plan your schedules accordingly!

Hello JAHA,

The 10-day comment period for the proposed rule change has expired and the rule received mostly positive feedback. Given that, the board has decided not to repeal or modify the rule in any way and will be going forward with it in place. It ill be enforced starting tonight (Sunday October 17th) with the 4pm game.

See the new rule text below if you missed it in the previous announcement.

Best Regards,

-Andrew Dimond, JAHA president

6. Equipment

In addition to all equipment required by USA hockey rules, JAHA will also require masks be correctly worn in any circumstances where city or rink policy dictates. On-ice violations of this requirement will be subject to the same penalties that USA hockey equipment violations receive; which includes one warning first to each team before issuing misconduct penalties to individual players. Players may be found in violation of this rule by an official at any time while they are on the ice, however warnings/penalties will only be issued during stoppages in play. Off-ice violations of this policy (benches, locker rooms, and common areas) will be addressed by the board on a case-by-case basis and players found repeatedly in violation of this policy will be subject to discipline by the JAHA board as outlined in rules B1 (Sportsmanship) and B4 (Facility Rules). Penalties for off ice violations may range from warnings up to suspensions or bans.
