Our goal the Intro to Hockey series is to introduce and practice basic hockey skating and stickhandling skills, basic rules, and team play. In addition to on-ice skills practice, there will be “chalk talks” before most of the ice sessions.

The first chalk talk will be at 7:15 in one of the locker rooms. You will want to arrive at Treadwell between 6:45 and 7:00 so that you have enough time to put your gear on before the chalk talk.

During the chalk talk we will try to cover the following subjects, then go over the drills we will be doing on the ice. Chalk talk subjects:
1. Hockey basics, equipment. "how to"
2. Positions
3. Defense
4. Offense
5. Power play / penalty kill
6. Optional
