Welcome to the Fall 2015 Intro to Hockey!

We plan to introduce and practice basic skating and stickhandling skills, basic rules, and team play. In addition to on-ice skills practice, there will be “chalk talks” before most of the ice sessions.

The first ice is Wednesday October 7 at 8:15. The first chalk talk will be at 8:00 in one of the locker rooms. You will want to arrive at Treadwell between 7:30 and 7:45 so that you have enough time to put your gear on before the chalk talk. During the first chalk talk we will cover many of the how-tos of hockey: how to hold your stick, the basic hockey stance, what the positions are, zones of the ice, … and more. Also, we will try to answer any questions you have!

Please wear the following gear:
- helmet
- hockey skates
- hockey gloves
- shin guards
- elbow pads
- hockey pants a.k.a. breezers
- shoulder pads
Everything on the above list is required except for shoulder pads… and if absolutely necessary you could play without hockey pants/breezers, though we will be falling on the ice and you will wish you had them!

Also, bring a hockey stick. If you do not have a stick, there are usually sticks in the lost and found.
Each session will build on the earlier sessions, so please try to make each ice.

Please note that ONLY players who are registered with USA Hockey and JAHA’s Intro to Hockey are allowed on the ice.
