If you would like to join the referees association and become a referee please contact John Stone at 586-0294 or Jack Gregson at 463-5154. We accept youth referees at age 12 or older. Come and join the fun and get a different perspective of that awesome game we call "Hockey". You will learn a lot about hockey and get a little extra money for your services.

There are also Score Keeper vacancies with a training being held at the Treadwell Arena on Saturday September 11, 2010 at 2:15 PM. To sign up please contact Terri Gregson at jgregson@gci.net or call 463-5154.

JAHA Sweater Reminder

Now is a great time to prepare for our next hockey season, we need everyone's assistance in getting our jersey's back to JAHA!

It would be nice if the sweaters/jerseys are clean but collecting them is the most important thing. Please have them in the JAHA Locker at the rink as soon as you can. Joe Geldof has volunteered to pick them up and clean them. This off season, we will be putting logos and numbers on all JAHA sweaters and storing them in uniform tubs for distribution next season

Turcotte Stickhandling School

Even though this season still has a bit to go it isn't too early to think about next year.
Turcotte Stickhandling school will have both youth and adult classes next September 11th - 13th .
We suggest you register early .

    Deep thought for the day

The upside to having all of these new-fangled graphite / composite sticks is the decrease in weight, increased stiffness, really seems to help out stickhandling and snapshots. The downside, of course, is that it hurts your wallet a whole lot more when you whack the cross bar after you score on your own goal.

    New website layout

Another year, another website layout. A lot of new features / improvements found it's way into the new design:

    • Ability to post blog entries. This will replace the very static and relatively unused forums of the last site. After logging in, click on the "My blog" below your name on the right side to post an entry.
    • The "upcoming games" block has made it's reappearance, due to popular demand.
    • Provides a space for the board to keep track of meeting minutes, to-do things, and documents that we have to reference.

In the future we'll be looking into the ability to easily post and keep statistics online, pay for seasons via PayPal online, etc. We'll also love for people to submit photographs, stories, blog entries, etc, for inclusion, to make this a more community based site.

Thanks for checking it out. Let us know what you think.
